We have been lucky enough to be sent two more lovely pudding. My family love me for being part of the Cartmel Village People tasting panel though for me it is a bit of a tease not being able to eat them.
I am always a bit lacking in making puddings which is very slack of me I know, but obviously with a thriving business like Cartmel Village shop I am not alone.
We were sent the Traditional Summer Pudding and the Lemon drizzle sponge.
First up was the most beautiful Summer Pudding, serving four this pudding well nearly brought tears to my eyes. As I sat there watching everyone else dive in to what I know would be a pudding I would love.
My tasting panel (my family) enjoyed the Summer Pudding, words like refreshing and scented came from their mouths once emptied I would like to add. This pudding is packed with raspberries, blackcurrants, redcurrants and strawberries with the lovely addition of Belvoir Elderflower Cordial. It is the most amazing and beautiful colour and if you are after a pudding that is not to sweet then this would be a choice for you.
The Lemon Drizzle Sponge I got to enjoy more, not tasting *sob* but the smell was totally totally (yes I am repeating myself there!) divine. It had the most amazing and comforting smell that felt if it could, it would wrap you up and look after you. This description may well sound a little over the top but I promise you the smell was the most comforting smell of the nicest home thought you could have. By the ‘Mmmm’s’ that came from the table I think on the taste scale it was pretty amazing too.
It had a lovely sauce on top and as I type this I really want a chance for another sniff but I am afraid it is long gone. I did say to everyone else I was thinking of keeping the lid to sniff but I was met by a few ‘Are you crazy ?’ looks and the answer probably is perhaps a bit!!!
With both these puddings being freezer friendly and a chilled shelf life of 21 days they are a great excuse to have in stock. I think at £4.25 for the Lemon Drizzle sponge serving four and the Summer pudding costing £4.50 again serving four is good value when you compare to having a wonderful pudding out for one and costing around the same price.
So if you want your mouth to water pop over to the Cartmel Village Shop where even in the Summer you will get a warm welcome.
I would like to thank Maria for sending the puddings, teasing that they were to me I did enjoy the smell and look of them!!! My family loved them x
