Making friends as an adult

Making friends as an adult

New places, new faces it is harder to make new friends when you are older. When I mean friends I mean building up to knowing they are there. A true friend is someone you can rely on no matter what. Someone you trust and someone you can be a true friend to them. Friendships are two-way thing and if it is not perhaps that isn’t a true friendship after all. Of course friends make you … Read entire article »

Dear Bex, I can’t believe your 13…

Dear Bex, Now hang on if you are 13 then that makes me older than I would like to think I am. Of course 13 means now you are a scary teenager but you know not all teenagers need to be scary do they? But you are no ordinary 13-year-old, your my girl so that horrid teenager thing does not apply right??!! The day you arrived I couldn’t believe my luck, this perfect little baby and actually you … Read entire article »

Merry Christmas x

Merry Christmas x

It’s been such a year this year, when I started here just this March I had no idea what wonderful and gorgeous people I would get to meet on the way. I feel I have made friends with people who in real every day life I would not of had the privilege to meet. I am hoping that I get to meet some of you sometime soon. With my blog, when I was thinking of the name … Read entire article »

Bella Vie review

The Summer means meeting up with friends and the family as well, which I love, but just ‘the girls’ is sometimes nice too! So when Katherine asked me if I would like to try a girly drink, well it was an excuse to invite the girls around. With the name like Bella Vie meaning beautiful life the wine promised a lot. I am a bit of a labels girl and I am not talking designer or brands here. No I am a labels girl because I am a sucker for a pretty label. I choose my wine by pretty labels!!! So when Bella Vie arrived I was immediately wowed by the beautiful label, it shouts out girls night in!!! Then I turned the bottle and sharp intake of breath ‘It was Italian’!!! The … Read entire article »

A confession….

Last night I passed over my baby to my daughter and her friend. Just for the one night I might add. As I repeated how important my baby was, how they were to really look after her because well…. I stroked my babies back as I passed her over. I sorted a few things out for them all and then I left. Waking up I realised my baby was in their charge. As they were still sleeping soundly I could not go in and get my baby just in case I woke the sleeping. Downstairs I made a cup of tea, emptied the dishwasher, washed up the remaining. Not having my baby downstairs meant this was done much quicker without any distraction. That done I reached for a pen and paper. I felt lost, there … Read entire article »

Good times

So I have just unpacked my case from my trip to Bath, taking just Bex and leaving Oscar at home to make sure his Dad behaved. Though I might add I did take out the washing as we came back Wednesday night. I am not quite that slack but yes a little slack on unpacking the rest!!! Anyway it was great to have some one to one time with Bex. Oscar had a fab time with his Dad and I know it did both of them good too. It was lovely to catch up with family and friends. Great to catch up with my oldest (not in years) best friend. Even though she visited me with her family last week it was great to meet up just the two of us in the … Read entire article »

Off to Bath

Bex and I are off to Bath for four nights today. Although I am looking forward to it, I am equally not as I am leaving Oscar behind. Oscar being more quiet than Bex, I know he will be happier staying at home and hanging out with his Dad. Though a climb into my bed last night and a “Do you have to go?” makes me typing this feeling worse than I probably was going too. Keeping everyone happy is always a hard balancing act isn’t it. I will leave miserable looking dogs and not forgetting my lovely husband (!) had to say that. A son who will miss his cuddles, but I will have a happy daughter who can’t wait to see her Uncle, Auntie and cousins. Of course I don’t mention … Read entire article »

Monday Mutters

Oooh lovely it’s a sunny Monday morning. Even better we are still in the Summer holidays so Monday morning aren’t so bad. School term Mondays I really do not like, it is the start of ‘what is going to happen this week?’ Then I look forward to Friday 3.40 from precisely Monday 8.15, with a few breathers in between. Anyway let’s not think about that now. This week is a busy week, I have loads of catching up to do before Saturday when I go to stay at my brothers with Bex until Weds evening. Oz is staying at home to have some one to one time with his Dad and he doesn’t do ‘family’ like Bex does. As much as he loves the rest of his family and more so I know … Read entire article »

Left overs nearly finished

Oh did I over estimate my friends appetites, mmm just a bit. But let me tell you left overs are jolly tasty and you look in the fridge and ‘Hey Presto’ there is something gorgeous and yummy to eat. Note to self 1. When inviting people around after eight most have already eaten. Note to self 2. You don’t need to provide them with more than they would eat for there¬† lunch, dinner and supper. Note to self 3. You don’t need to spend the best part of a day and a little more to prepare. Note to self 4. Remember which mini quiches (so cute) and mini paper wrapped quiches (even cuter and no pastry) are the ones with bacon in especially when you have vegetarian guests. Note to self 5. When you lovingly make … Read entire article »

Party on

I planned to have a ‘I am still 39′ party the weekend before my birthday. As we were coming home from holiday that day it was a bit tricky! Being me, I didn’t want my party a couple of days after my birthday as I would spend my actual birthday stressing what I had to get done. So Oscar’s party and then birthday came first and now this weekend it is my turn. I am sure I have a little Italian in me as my nature is to feed people. Oh I looked at good old Marks and Spencer but the inner me said no. I won’t go mega mad but I will make sure everyone has some yummy food made mostly by my fair hands. My children keep saying “It’s your party Mum, … Read entire article »
