Meal Planning Monday

I have not felt like meal planning as such the last few weeks but we have had some nice meals and trying hard to stick to a budget. This weeks plan is based on favourites I know will get eaten up, mostly easy to do. Except the Quiche, which once made always grateful I did make it but sometimes trying to make gluten-free pastry behave itself can be a challenge that has been known to make me cry!!! Popped to our local farm shop yesterday and got some lovely young leeks and gorgeous looking  Russian (but grown here!) Kale so tonight will use some of the leeks and Kale. So my menu this week, though I may well chop and change the days around looks like this: Monday: Chicken and leek casserole … Read entire article »

Dear Heather

When we were little we used to play with your Pippa dolls together. I always ended up with the girls and you always had ‘Pete’ Pippa’s boyfriend. Remember he had that cool flying jacket which later on you bought one for yourself which I always rather liked. You watched Scooby Doo and Doctor Who while I hid behind the sofa. You generally were the sorted one, while I was the shy and erratic one. The teenager years for you saw a swap around and a wild teenager you quite often were. While I remained the quiet one. I remember you learning to drive and going off all smart to work. Suddenly thinking my sister was all so grown up and knowing you wouldn’t be around so much. Even if you did … Read entire article »

My dogs, pets and Petplan

My dogs, pets and Petplan

Despite having my own 50 shades of brown on our kitchen floor, a utility room with its own personal pile of mud and the reason that last year I rocked the ‘drowned rat’ look of fashion, I wouldn’t be without our dogs. Always there when we need a cuddle, be it sometimes slightly smelly! They more than often raise a smile when you least feel like smiling. Lottie does her daily roll in the garden, then … Read entire article »

Meal Planning Monday

On the whole I do the shopping see what is on offer and tempts me, then plan meals around that. One reason to meal plan was to save money and feel less stressed by organising one part of my life. The latter does work but not so sure I have saved money. Though of course hard to say as food pricing have gone up and up all year!!! So now I am going to plan meals then shop, with the hope of buying what we need to make those meals will mean: a) I stick to the meal plan. No  ‘that seems a lot of hassle tonight’  kind of thing!!! b) Save money c) Mean less waste. I hate to throw food away but there always seems to be a half pot of natural … Read entire article »

Twelfth Night

Twelfth Night

As tonight is the twelfth night it must mean I have been 12 days of blogging free, very slack. Every year I Google when I am supposed to take the decorations down. Apparently sadly it is today but some say tomorrow, the superstitious part of me will go for today just in case! I hate taking the decorations down, they always brighten up a dull day. When taking them down it only feels like yesterday that … Read entire article »
