Ozzie’s Best Burgers

Ozzie’s Best Burgers

Oscar being a SpongeBob fan likes the thought of crabby patties, without the crab! So for the last year or so, Oscar has been chief burger maker in the house. All the trimmings Oscar and I prepare together when the burgers are cooking. Burgers are so easy to make, I  am sure now Oscar won’t ever buy burgers from a packet when he is older. Oscar likes his burgers with all the trimmings, so here is what you … Read entire article »

Good times

So I have just unpacked my case from my trip to Bath, taking just Bex and leaving Oscar at home to make sure his Dad behaved. Though I might add I did take out the washing as we came back Wednesday night. I am not quite that slack but yes a little slack on unpacking the rest!!! Anyway it was great to have some one to one time with Bex. Oscar had a fab time with his Dad and I know it did both of them good too. It was lovely to catch up with family and friends. Great to catch up with my oldest (not in years) best friend. Even though she visited me with her family last week it was great to meet up just the two of us in the … Read entire article »

Nestle Get Set Go Free

I am a big fan of trying new things for the family, but how many of us just don’t get around to it? Hands up for me here. So what a great idea Nestlé have come up with ‘Get Set Go Free’. On promotion packs of Nestlé products there are voucher codes for activities for you to try for free. From just buying a small pack of Rowntree’s Randoms worth 5 points you can try a gym session, hockey or orienteering, all for free. A box of 375g of Cheerio’s gives 15 points giving you a free session of athletics, dance, rugby to name but a few. A multi-pack of Ski Yoghurt’s 30 points gives you the opportunity to try paint-balling for 2, or rowing and lots more to choose from. Or you can save … Read entire article »

Off to Bath

Bex and I are off to Bath for four nights today. Although I am looking forward to it, I am equally not as I am leaving Oscar behind. Oscar being more quiet than Bex, I know he will be happier staying at home and hanging out with his Dad. Though a climb into my bed last night and a “Do you have to go?” makes me typing this feeling worse than I probably was going too. Keeping everyone happy is always a hard balancing act isn’t it. I will leave miserable looking dogs and not forgetting my lovely husband (!) had to say that. A son who will miss his cuddles, but I will have a happy daughter who can’t wait to see her Uncle, Auntie and cousins. Of course I don’t mention … Read entire article »

Easy Chicken Kebabs

Easy Chicken Kebabs

I love the word ‘Easy’ when it comes to cooking and with just 3 ingredients this could not be easier. With the bonus it is very tasty too. Serves 4 You will need: 4 chicken breasts 1/2 a pot of natural yogurt 2-3 tablespoons of curry paste ( I used Patak’s Korma) 1. Cut the chicken into chunks about 2.5cm cubes. Usually one chicken breast makes 8-10 chunks. 2. Place in a bowl and add yogurt and curry paste and give a … Read entire article »

Monday Mutters

Oooh lovely it’s a sunny Monday morning. Even better we are still in the Summer holidays so Monday morning aren’t so bad. School term Mondays I really do not like, it is the start of ‘what is going to happen this week?’ Then I look forward to Friday 3.40 from precisely Monday 8.15, with a few breathers in between. Anyway let’s not think about that now. This week is a busy week, I have loads of catching up to do before Saturday when I go to stay at my brothers with Bex until Weds evening. Oz is staying at home to have some one to one time with his Dad and he doesn’t do ‘family’ like Bex does. As much as he loves the rest of his family and more so I know … Read entire article »

Left overs nearly finished

Oh did I over estimate my friends appetites, mmm just a bit. But let me tell you left overs are jolly tasty and you look in the fridge and ‘Hey Presto’ there is something gorgeous and yummy to eat. Note to self 1. When inviting people around after eight most have already eaten. Note to self 2. You don’t need to provide them with more than they would eat for there  lunch, dinner and supper. Note to self 3. You don’t need to spend the best part of a day and a little more to prepare. Note to self 4. Remember which mini quiches (so cute) and mini paper wrapped quiches (even cuter and no pastry) are the ones with bacon in especially when you have vegetarian guests. Note to self 5. When you lovingly make … Read entire article »

Party on

I planned to have a ‘I am still 39′ party the weekend before my birthday. As we were coming home from holiday that day it was a bit tricky! Being me, I didn’t want my party a couple of days after my birthday as I would spend my actual birthday stressing what I had to get done. So Oscar’s party and then birthday came first and now this weekend it is my turn. I am sure I have a little Italian in me as my nature is to feed people. Oh I looked at good old Marks and Spencer but the inner me said no. I won’t go mega mad but I will make sure everyone has some yummy food made mostly by my fair hands. My children keep saying “It’s your party Mum, … Read entire article »
