That week went quickly

Well this week seems to have rushed by us. Which means one week of the Summer holidays has also gone a little too quick. Oscar has turned 10 this week, on Friday. I should have done a birthday post for him too, but giving him the choice of me sat here typing something about him or me spending time with him well there is nothing in it really!!! After the fab party on Monday, written about on Tuesday the rest of week whizzed by. Friday being Oscar’s birthday was an ‘Oscar’s choice day’, which meant a chilled out day at home. To include present opening (of course), a cheese and biscuits, dips and salad lunch. Scrummy strawberry and cream cake with a pot of tea in the afternoon and homemade burgers (gherkins … Read entire article »

Oz’s Party

On Monday we had Oz’s 10th birthday party, it was the first party he has had since he was five. This was due to fact on his 5th birthday party, a friend accidentally put his toe in Oz’s eye which left him in quite a bit of shock until the next day. So for the last four years he has had usually 2 friends just to do something special, his choice. But this year he had a party (Yeah), and it was a brilliant party too!!! If you read my holiday experience or ‘The snake’ bit you will be wondering why I had been so mad as to invite a snake to the party well….. we do anything for our children don’t we? So Oz had an animal experience type party, so as well as … Read entire article »

Bringing the family together

With my guys growing up rapidly at 12 and so very nearly 10, I really want to make sure we have years of happy family times ahead of us, whilst they also do the things this age do hanging out with friends etc. So I decided to add a new category named Bring the Family together. You will find here things we have tried, things we have done and places we have been and hopefully get lots of ‘bringing the family together’ idea’s in our hectic lifes. This may be something I have reviewed  or equally just something which we did which was great fun. I read Old Fashioned Mummy’s school holiday plans, which sound great and I admit to missing the fact you do so much more with your children when they are … Read entire article »

School’s out for SUMMER!!!

If you heard that song, it might well of been me singing it. My two are now broken up for just over 6 weeks. A big yippee in our house, big deep relaxed breath and 6 weeks to enjoy. Okay let’s be honest, I am not saying it is going to be perfect and I can’t promise that on some days I may well need a bit more peace but….. It is the Summer holidays which means no early morning pack lunches. Cutting pineapple and bits of salad. No I don’t make their pack lunches the night before, I have a bit of a thing about soggy sandwich’s in a negative sense I might add. But most of all it means hanging out with my guys, no tears from my lovely daughter who seems … Read entire article »

My Mum is 40 today

A special post by our daughter Bex today to celebrate Ali (my wife’s) 40th and what she means to Bex and not forgetting Oscar!! Well it’s mums 40th today and she doesn’t look a day over 30 and she’s as amazing as ever! A mum, a friend and a fabulous advice giver to me. Most my friends call their mums bossy, uncool and strict but my mum is NOTHING like that and is my most trustworthy reliable friend as well as someone who cares for me and always makes sure I’m alright, that’s what my mum is all about putting other people before herself and always sticks by it almost like her policy. Mum is also very supportive in what I want to do with my life and I know that whatever … Read entire article »

Did I mention I was going to be 40 tomorrow

Tomorrow I am going to be 40. Please do not say ‘Life begins at 40′ because excuse me mine began 40 years ago or 40 years tomorrow to be exact. The other little gem of a comment is ’40 is the new 30′ again no it is not. 40 is 40 not 30 at all. It is a big 10 years bigger and there is nothing new about that. Other than those little comments there is little I can do about the fact tomorrow I will no longer be in my 30’s and actually be in my 40’s. Hard swallow, stinging eyes and yes I am slightly gutted that I have already lived 40 years of my life and it seems to have gone far to quickly. In one of the first few weeks … Read entire article »

Memories, snakes and a lovely time

Well that week went far to quickly which can only mean one thing, we had a fab holiday! Firstly it was a wonderful break from the computer, despite taking it with me I decided not to turn it on. I think we all agree that the joys of the Internet has a great habit of consuming rather a lot of our time, so to stop that happening the answer is simple just don’t turn it on!!! The cottage we stayed in was more than I could of hoped for. It is always nice when you get more than you were expecting. We had and I didn’t expect this, the whole two and a half acres just for us. The most divine and peaceful garden, it was Mediterranean meets wild Wales. A total suntrap … Read entire article »

Off on Holiday

We are off for a weeks holiday, isn’t it funny when you say your going on holiday, people say “Going anywhere nice?” what sort of question is that! “No I booked a really cr*p holiday!!! What is worse is if you’re not, as we are not, going anywhere exotic you say “No just Pembrokeshire!” So we are off to Pembrokeshire tomorrow and no it’s not just Pembrokeshire because it looks really fab. So we are all packed and excited and it will be nice to have a break away. We are renting out a rather cute little cottage that’s a bit in the sticks with no Wifi so I will have a little time a way from my cyber side of life. It is always to tempting to check emails and a scoot … Read entire article »
